Lipoprotein(a) | Lp(a)

Suncoast Clinical Research (SCR) seeks individuals aged 50 and up who are at risk of cardiovascular disease, heart attack and/or stroke in reducing that risk. The total length of time for the study will be up to 5.5 years, with 29 in-person visits throughout that time, including screening and a safety follow-up period.

About the Study

About the study 

To investigate the efficacy and safety of investigational medication compared with placebo for participants in people at risk for a major cardiovascular event and/or evidence of cholesterol plaques in the arteries. 

What to Expect 

  • 29 in-person visits at our clinic for treatment and checkups, including an initial screening visit and a safety follow-up period to monitor health and symptoms. 
  • 50% chance of receiving a placebo. (a placebo is a medication that looks, smells, and tastes exactly like the investigational medication, but does not contain any active ingredients that provide treatment for your condition.) 
  • Compensation may be available for your time and travel. 

Qualifications

Qualifications* 

  • Are at least 50 years of age or older. 

AND 

  • Have at least 4 risk factors for heart disease (such as high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol, and/or family history of early heart disease) 

OR  

  • Have test results showing Atherosclerosis (like coronary calcium on a scan, carotid artery narrowing, or peripheral artery disease).
