Each June, Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month reminds us just how important it is to prioritize brain health. With more than 6 million Americans currently living with Alzheimer’s disease, it’s a time to raise awareness, support ongoing research, and recognize the people affected by this devastating condition.
At Suncoast Clinical Research, we’re proud to be part of the solution. Our New Port Richey and Palm Harbor offices are currently enrolling participants for Alzheimer’s disease clinical trials aimed at improving early diagnosis, understanding disease progression, and evaluating investigational treatment options.
The Growing Impact of Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory, thinking skills, and eventually the ability to carry out simple tasks. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, one in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia, and it is currently the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. Source: Alzheimer’s Association – 2024 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures
While age is the greatest risk factor, Alzheimer’s is not a normal part of aging. Genetics, lifestyle, and environmental factors also play a role. That’s why advancing research is so crucial—not only to develop better treatments but to one day prevent the disease altogether.
Clinical Trials Are Key to Progress
Alzheimer’s research is rapidly evolving, and clinical trials are at the heart of every breakthrough. These studies help researchers:
- Understand how Alzheimer’s affects the brain
- Identify early biomarkers and risk factors
- Test investigational medicines that may slow or stop disease progression
Participation in clinical trials is completely voluntary and plays a vital role in shaping the future of Alzheimer’s care. Learn more about clinical trials from the National Institute on Aging.
Our Role at Suncoast Clinical Research
At Suncoast, we’re currently enrolling for multiple Alzheimer’s-related studies designed for:
- Adults experiencing early memory changes or mild cognitive impairment (MCI)
- Individuals between the ages of 50–85 (depending on the study)
- Those with a diagnosis of early-stage Alzheimer’s
All studies are conducted at no cost to participants. Health insurance is not required, and eligible volunteers may receive study-related care, cognitive assessments, brain imaging, and more. Caregivers are often encouraged to participate in the process alongside their loved ones.
We’re committed to supporting our community by offering access to cutting-edge research and compassionate care—right here in the Tampa Bay area.
How to Get Involved
If you or someone you know has concerns about memory loss or has been diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s disease, we encourage you to consider participating in a clinical trial.
