Constipation

Suburban Research Associates is currently seeking participants 18 to 80 years of age who are experiencing chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) for a clinical research study. Chronic Idiopathic Constipation is a condition characterized by persistent difficulty with bowel movements, including infrequent stools, hard or lumpy stools, straining, and a sensation of incomplete evacuation. Individuals with CIC may also experience abdominal discomfort and bloating. These symptoms can significantly impact daily life and overall quality of life, making effective treatment options important.

About the Study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational medication (tenapanor) in adults with CIC. This study will compare multiple dose levels of the study medication to placebo to better understand its potential benefits and tolerability when taken twice daily.  

This study is approximately 32 weeks long and includes a screening period, a 26-week treatment period, and a follow-up period. Participants will attend regular study visits (some may be conducted virtually). Compensation may be available for time and travel if you qualify to participate.  

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • 18 to 80 years of age 
  • Diagnosed with chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) 
  • Able to complete daily symptom reporting using an electronic diary 
  • Willing to follow study procedures and attend study visits
