If you’ve had a heart attack, stroke, peripheral artery disease, or have other cardiovascular risk factors, you may qualify for a clinical research study evaluating an investigational once-daily oral medication.

Why Is This Study Being Conducted?
Cardiovascular disease remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide.
Even when taking cholesterol-lowering medications, many people continue to have elevated LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels and remain at risk for future cardiovascular events.
Researchers are evaluating an investigational oral medication called AZD0780, designed to help lower LDL cholesterol through a different approach than currently available treatments.
The goal is to determine whether this investigational therapy may help reduce the risk of:
- Heart attack
- Stroke
- Cardiovascular death
- Urgent artery procedures
- Serious circulation-related complications
Who May Qualify?
You may be eligible if you:
Have a History of Cardiovascular Disease
Such as:
- Previous heart attack
- Previous ischemic stroke
- Peripheral artery disease (PAD)
- Prior artery procedures or vascular interventions
OR
Are at High Risk for a First Cardiovascular Event
You may qualify if you have certain risk factors such as:
- High LDL cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Kidney disease
- Evidence of atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in the arteries)
- Other cardiovascular risk factors
Additional study criteria apply.
About the Study Treatment
An investigational medication is being studied as a potential new treatment option for people at increased cardiovascular risk.
Unlike currently available injectable PCSK9 therapies, the investigational medicine is being evaluated as a Once-Daily Oral Tablet
Participants will continue their prescribed cholesterol-lowering medications while taking either:
- Investigational medicine
- Placebo
Neither participants nor study doctors will know which study treatment has been assigned during the study.

Study doctors will review your medical history and determine whether you qualify.
Study Participation
If eligible, you may be randomly assigned to receive the investigational study medication or placebo.
Ongoing Monitoring
Participants receive regular study visits that may include:

Participants remain on their regular cholesterol-lowering treatment throughout the study unless changes are medically necessary.
